CABPES is offering a variety of brand new programs this summer for our students to take advantage of! All of these programs are free and meant to sustain the engagement of the CABPES student community and the academic momentum of the school year.

Summer programs will run June 14-August 13.

Students in the CABPES Books and Beyond Book Club will experience the adventure of reading books and the depth of moderator-lead of group discussions. Each book club will meet virtually in the CABPES Zoom room for one hour every other week and students will be assigned specific chapters to read on their own between each meeting. Book clubs will be moderated by a CABPES adult volunteer, CABPES will provide the books to each Books and Beyond participant. Book clubs kick off the week of June 14 and specific book club meeting dates and times will be determined by the moderator and the participants.

The Summer Math Quest Challenge will replace the traditional Summer Math Booth Camp this year. Students will work in the IXL math app individually and from the comfort of their own homes this summer. Rewards will be given out for work completed at 10 hours, 15 hours, 25 hours, 35 hours and 40 hours.

CABPES has partnered with the Denver Museum of Nature and Science to offer in-person field trip experiences at the museum. Field trips will each be a half day long and will take place once in June, July and August. Field trips are free to attend and CABPES will provide lunch to all field trip students.

Join CABPES for in-person, hands-on learning in these special work shops. All work shops will take place at the Community College of Denver Lowry Campus and may be offered inside or outside at this location. Workshops will each be 2-4 hours long and dates and time of the workshops are to be determined.

June: Building Lego Bridges taught by Austin Dada of Rock Sol.

All students will be provided legos to use at this work shop and will be gifted their lego sets following this workshop.

July: The World of Concrete taught by Jake Gilmore of Gilmore Construction

August: “5, 4, 3, 2, 1, Blast Off” Rockets taught by Adrien Bossogo-Egoume of ULA
