The Colorado Association of Black Professional Engineers and Scientists (CABPES) is a non-profit
organization dedicated to encouraging African Americans and underrepresented youth to pursue science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) careers and we have been dedicated to this goal since 1980. In the past 40 years, CABPES has introduced STEM concepts through our after-school programs to 6,000 students. We are currently wrapping up our pilot version of our new virtual programs and planning for virtual programming and teaching this Fall. This virtual version of our long-standing Junior Engineers Tomorrow’s Scientists (JETS) and our Math Enrichment Program (MEP) include live classes taught by professional engineers and scientists. In addition, there is interactive guided instruction of the program’s curriculum for students in 5th-12th grades.
Many of these students do not receive exposure to STEM education and the opportunities to learn in a project-oriented, comprehensive, and hands-on learning environment outside of their time with CABPES. After a year in CABPES JETS and MEP programs, students record a noticeable improvement in their academics, their self-confidence, and their self-awareness. Best of all, the success of our organization and our outreach is dependent upon the financial support of corporations and private sponsors.
We would like to ask that you consider becoming one of our 2020 Corporate Sponsors. As a sponsor, you will not only be supporting underrepresented minority participation in the increasingly important STEM industries, but you will also be supporting the growth and expansion of a non-profit run by Black leadership. At CABPES, we believe that each of our students is a bright star and together, our students will each play an important role in STEM solar system.
